These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of staysider.com and everything published on it (the "Site"), operated by Staysider ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Site.

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to use the Site.

What Staysider Is

Staysider is a publisher of independent travel guides. We write about where to stay, which neighbourhoods suit which travellers, how to get around, when to go, and the practical parts of planning a trip.

Staysider is not a travel agency. We do not sell products, take payments, hold funds, or make, hold or manage bookings of any kind. There is no shop, cart or checkout on the Site. We are not a travel agent, tour operator, booking agent or broker, and we hold no travel licence, bonding, insurance or financial protection scheme of the kind those businesses are required to carry. Nothing on the Site is an offer to sell you travel.

Nothing on the Site is legal, financial, medical, immigration or insurance advice.

Bookings Are Between You and the Provider

Our guides link to websites operated by third parties — hotels, booking platforms, airlines, car hire companies, tour operators, connectivity providers and others. If you book, reserve or buy anything on one of those websites, that contract is between you and that provider. Staysider is not a party to it.

This means we cannot make, change or cancel a booking for you, issue a refund, or resolve a dispute with a provider on your behalf. Prices, availability, terms, cancellation rules and refund policies are set by the provider, are subject to that provider's own terms and conditions, and can change at any time without notice to us.

Some of our outgoing links carry a parameter or cookie that identifies Staysider as the referring site, which is how those companies recognise readers we send them. Following such a link does not change the terms of anything you go on to book, and does not create any relationship between you and us beyond your use of the Site.

We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, practices or terms. Including a link is not an endorsement or a guarantee of the provider behind it.

Travel Information Goes Out of Date

Our guides describe places as we found them at the time of writing. Opening hours, prices, routes, schedules, entry and visa requirements, health rules, safety conditions and the character of a neighbourhood all change, sometimes quickly and without notice.

We take care to be accurate and we correct what we learn is wrong, but we do not warrant that anything on the Site is current, complete or correct. You are responsible for verifying anything that matters to your trip — in particular entry and visa requirements, health and vaccination advice, insurance, and safety guidance — directly with the provider and with the official travel advice issued by your own government, before you travel and before you book.

Recommendations reflect our opinion and judgement. They are not a guarantee of the quality, safety, suitability or availability of any place, service or provider.

Using the Site

You may read, browse, and share links to the Site freely, and print or save pages for your own personal, non-commercial use.

You agree not to:

Use the Site for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of these Terms;
Copy, republish, redistribute or sell our content, in whole or in substantial part, without our written permission;
Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract content from the Site, or use it to train a machine learning or generative model, without our written permission;
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its servers, or any connected system;
Interfere with the operation of the Site, including by introducing malware or placing unreasonable load on it;
Misrepresent your identity, or your connection with any person or organisation.

Comments and Anything Else You Submit

You may be able to comment on our guides. You are responsible for what you submit, and by submitting it you confirm that it is yours to submit and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

Comments must not be unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, obscene, deceptive, or a promotion of goods or services. We moderate comments before they appear, and we may edit, decline to publish, or remove any submission for any reason or none, without notice. We are under no obligation to publish anything you send us or to keep it published.

By submitting a comment you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, publish, adapt and display it on the Site and in connection with it. You keep ownership of what you wrote.

Comments are the opinions of the people who post them, not of Staysider, and we do not endorse them.

If you subscribe, we send an email when a new guide is published, covering the regions you selected where you selected any. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. How we handle your email address is described in our Privacy Policy.

Our Content

The text, photographs, design, graphics and layout of the Site are owned by Staysider or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The Staysider name and logo are ours. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you.

Some photographs are licensed from third parties and are credited where credit is required. Those images remain the property of their photographers and are licensed to us, not to you.

If you believe something on the Site infringes your copyright, email us at admin@staysider.com with enough detail to identify the work and the page, and we will look into it.

Availability of the Site

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site, including any guide, at any time and without notice. We do not guarantee that the Site will be available uninterrupted or error-free. We may restrict or withdraw your access to the Site if you breach these Terms.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect and how we use it. It forms part of these Terms. Where the two conflict on the handling of personal information, the Privacy Policy controls.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Changes take effect when posted, and your continued use of the Site after that means you accept them. If you do not accept a change, stop using the Site.

General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force and the unenforceable provision is applied to the greatest extent permitted. Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the business.
